Testimonial - David - Total Cholesterol from 216 to 135
At 37 years old I was on a business trip to DuPont office in Newark, Delaware. After our last meeting, I had some time before my flight home. I decided to get a bite to eat with my traveling partner, so we went to the local mall and there was a free cholesterol screening station set up. My friend and I decided to get our cholesterol test. My result was 216 mg/dL. Well I didn’t think that was too bad, but in reality, at that time, anything over 200 was considered a risk.
I was a little surprised because my wife and I tried to eat low fat, very little red meat, low fat milk, and not too much butter and oil. In 2016, we found out we weren’t as educated on fat, cholesterol and what to eat as we needed to be to have optimum health.
Being a fairly thin child and teenager, I really didn’t pay much attention to the pound or two of weight I was gaining each year, but after a while, it adds up. At 20, and a height of 5’-11”, I probably weighed about 145 pounds, but at some time later in the 2000’s, I was up to 175 and would try to get down in the 160s. I do not have a large frame, so I obviously had some belly fat. In fact my belts were no longer straight, but they had a curve due to my extra weight.
I have to give credit to my wife, Rhonda. I would never have started this eating program without her investigating, studying and the bringing me to Dr. Fuhrman, and Dr. McDougal Conferences. .
